This is a photoshop repair project I did for Disney Publishing.
This is the image they started with from the movie. They didn't like the expression on his face. So they asked me to remove the dino and insert a new dino image they were going to send me. I got the new one and pasted it in.

This is the new Dino they gave me. It doesn't match. It was rendered in bright daylight. But the background is nightime. AND the light source is now on on the wrong side of the body. |
but Tommy wasn't going to be foiled by this. I used photoshop curves to bring the image to the right color value. And I used masks and more curve adjustment layers to alter the shading. And where the old shadow was I plain out just repainted the dino texture by hand. |
Disney's Treasure Planet
Disney Publishing had trouble drawing the cyborg pirate for their Treasure Planet books. And Disney Publishing couldn't get Disney Animation to give them the 3d model or do renders for them. So they hired me. They gave me some really poor preproduction drawings ad a few screen caps (nowhere nears enough) and I rebuilt a fairly close 3d model of the original arm. Then they gave me drawings and I would render the arm in each pose.
To get the inked lines look I created lines all over the model that were renderable. The model itself was rendered white and without shadows. The cylinders and spheres and wires were rendered with a black falloff value. And for unique shapes like the big shield, I rendered it a distinct color, then I selected it and outlined the selection. Posing would take the longest to do. But once done it was fairlyeasy to create the line art. |
Here is the arm fitted into the drawing.
This would then go to a painter who would get all the credit. :) |
