Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
the Flying Sub

Here is a render with all the bells and whistles added in photoshop.
The stage set the actors used for filming the Flying Sub interior is physically impossible to fit into the model of the flying sub. It just doesn't fit.

the stage set mockup

The main problem is the hatches on the flying sub model is MUCH farther behind the front windows on the model, then on the stage set. Also the model's windows extend very low unlike the stage set. So my mesh distorts the interior to fit all the parts into the ship.

Here the outside mesh is nearly done. It is still two big port and starboard pieces. But it has a basic texture.

The panel on the left is a bitmap in progress.
Here is an early render of the interior

Here is a start of trying to make the model more realistic.I'm designing how the thing would be constructed in real life.

Note the panels for the landing gear, front claw, and tail skid! :)

a closeup of the hatch. No bitmaped textures yet. just procedural maps.

Here is an early version of the model with a rendered water texture thrown behind it.

All the yellow parts and trim are basically one nurb. Though the port side is mirrored on the starboard.
